Bake it, buy it, blog it. This Friday, October 16, is the 4th annual World Bread Day where it doesn't matter what you do as long as you appreciate bread. Details are on Koptchof's blog, in 5 languages, so you don't have an excuse.
I've had a particularly active and happy bread mother this season. It must like Italian air because it's been giving me outstanding bread for months. Most of my neighbors have gotten used to hearing me knead my bread, I favor the in-the-air-slap-down-on-the-marble method; however that produces a sound not unlike two bodies, rhythmically slapping down on a bed, if you get my drift. Life is a medieval village with very narrow streets is a very intimate way of life, especially with all of our windows open. So either my neighbors have figured out I'm kneading bread or else… well, who knows what they think, but it could explain the funny smiles I get now and then.
Mark your calender. See you on Friday!
