Motorino Pizza
Pizza even the Pizza Guru would love! Motorino in the East Village of NYC.
It was a biblical drought, 40 days without pizza. Yeah, they have ‘pizza’ in Utah, but
Honey, they don’t really know from pizza in Utah. Killer Mexican food, but not pizza.
Mitch of Tasty Travails suggests Motorino pizza not long
after we get back to the city. I’ve
read good things, Mitch is trustworthy, not Guru-status, but always reliable. I
gave the place the plain vanilla test and ordered a Margherita, Jeff had a
spicy soppresata and Mitch went with the Brussel sprout/speck pizza.
And the score reads:
Good crust…thin in the middle, very poofy on the edges.
Good crust flavor, nice chewy texture.
Limited topping choices; although all the toppings were
excellent quality. The brussel
sprout pizza has this great char and is really good.
No one had any wine so can’t speak about the wine list.
Guru would have given them demerits because we didn’t have a
waitress. Guru loves to have his pizza served by women.
Good cutlery, no bent knives and the pizza came already cut.
If they had a slightly hotter oven and a longer topping list
this place would earn kudos from even the Pizza Guru. (Who has happily returned
to Italy and calls periodically to rub in the fact that he’s eating better
pizza than us.) Secondo me, its
pizza worth traveling for.
