Implausible as it may seem, the mere thought of the end of the Bush era seems to opening our appetites.
Wine Blogging Wednesday has announced that the theme of their next tasting is “A Toast to the end of the Bush Era.”  Everyone is encouraged to taste a wine that embodies this sentiment. Suggestions include a wine from Texas, or Connecticut, or perhaps a flaunting freedom French champagne, or a collusionist Italian Proseco.  We have until September 17 to decide on an appropriate choice.

This morning I received this e-mail from a friend, “I’ve invited my Girls Night Out Group to come to my house on Friday bringing food "no Republican would make" – so far we have arugula, a very spicy vegan concoction and I’m thinking of a recipe from our New Orleans cookbook. Our one vegetarian will eat seafood on occasion so I’m thinking of a shrimp etoufee….”

Is this a delicious nation wide trend? Are others planning Freedom Fry Fetes?

I’m having a Fall Open House/30th Birthday/Quitting My Job/End of the Bush Regime party, so yeah, I’ll be celebrating with food!

I haven’t planned much, but I know I’ll be doing a vegan red lentil pate’, a big roast from my supply of my uncle’s grass-fed beef, uh, that’s all I’ve got so far…
