Ladies: Put on the dress and the heels. Cooking in this uncomfortable combination will make you more volatile and passionate. Work it!
Men: Put on the wife beater, gold chains, the sunglasses and the hair gel. Tight pants that will make you so uncomfortable that you will need to keep adjusting the ‘boys’ over and over. Spend 2-3 times longer primping than the lady.
1-2 cups couscous
Shrimp, clams, mussels, squid…whatever looks good in the market
1 cup of tomato puree
1 cup Soffrito: chopped carrots, celery, onions
Chili peppers, chopped, as much as you dare
Garlic, chopped, add more because you are feeling passionate
A good sized glug of rough red wine
Gently soften and simmer the soffrito, add the tomato puree, garlic and chilies and let simmer for 10 minutes.
Make the cous cous: boil salted water, add the couscous, let it come back to a boil, turn the heat off, cover and wait 5 minutes.
Add the seafood to the tomato sauce.
Set the table. Use water glasses for the wine.
Arrange the cous cous in a shallow bowl and fill it with the steaming, spicy seafood.
Call your partner in for dinner. Yell loud, you are in Palermo now. When your partner arrives, he’s been out strutting his manhood wandering the streets, eyeing the girls, avoiding the Nonnas. You exchange smoldering looks, maybe some kissing, (definitely kissing), then eat the couscous.
If you want, have some lemon gelato around to cool things down after dinner.
And should there be a need for further inspiration…. check out THE Man…Un Sacco Bello.
This is surely a classic!
This post is heated and a lotta fun! The pictures are beautiful, original and steamy! Thanks for placing a smile on my face.
I love it!!! You two look great.
Ciao,
