Tons of hotels, air bnbs…all that you would expect from a major European city.
We stayed at the Hostal Central Palace Madrid when we booked a place to sleep in Madrid.
Don’t let the word “Hostal” throw you – this isn’t your backpacker’s hostel by any means. The hotel is discreetly set into a grand building that borders the massive and stunning Royal Palace of Madrid. Be sure to set aside some time to wander the gardens surround the Royal Palace. In good weather, everyone is out and about enjoying life in Madrid.

It’s one of those buildings with a massive door, that would require multiple manservants to open, but it also has a human size door for your everyday use. Inside the little foyer are lovely crystal chandeliers, and at the rear, up a few steps, the elevator (or “lift” if you prefer.)

There is a tiny reception area, with genuinely warm and friendly people working at the desk. Our greeter gave us accurate city information, good restaurants, recommendations where to walk, and where not to walk.
We were given Room #502 because we aren’t afraid of walking up stairs, and that’s a good thing. Room #502 has an amazing private roof top terrace where the whole city lays at your feet. The room was spotless, comfortable, adequate closet space, big bathroom, very quiet and charming. Also great sheets on the bed.
Highly recommend, but a bit pricey. It’s a treat for when you deserve something special.
